{For the month of April I will be blogging alphabetically on the topic of travel tips.}
Water. It seems so simple yet can it can get complicated while travelling.
Caribbean water. |
Can you just grab a glass and run for the nearest tap? In Canada, yes, in Europe, probably, anywhere else in the world, not unless you want to get violently ill. For all those people who hate on bottled water, it has its place. Hopefully your hotel has filters and if you can refill that bottle at a cooler, all the better. But please understand that most of the world does not have safe drinking water coming out of their taps.
Two alternatives to water if you are dehydrated are sports drinks and coconut juice. We've come to learn the importance of electrolytes and that is what these beverages offer. Fresh young coconut is super good for you! It is nature's Gatorade. Basically, they have salt in them that helps you retain water and not just pee it all out. It also replenishes minerals that your internal body fluids need. (Not a fully scientific explanation.)
Mmm... buko! |
I love fresh coconuts too. They are also usually one of the cheapest drinks locally available especially in Asia. Dropped by for A-Z. Happy Writing.

Thanks! Yup, they are tasty, nutritious and cheap!
DeleteGreat post - staying hydrated when traveling is very important but not something most of us think about until we don't feel well
ReplyDeleteExactly! Got to stay ahead of the heat stroke.
