Vietnam for Christmas! Day 7 - Ha Long Bay

If you've been following along, you might noticed that I skipped Day 6. That was basically a transit day. We had an early afternoon flight from Da Nang to Haiphong via propeller plane. Then it was a three hour drive (because our driver wouldn't go faster than 40km/h) to our hotel in Ha Long City. We had a disappointing dinner at the hotel and went to bed early. Not worth a whole post. Ha Long Bay, however...

Karsts in the mist.

We were so cold we bought knit gloves from a street vendor. I'm sure we got ripped off but for $5 a pair we weren't going to complain.

We're such wimps.
I think I'll let the picture do the talking for this one...

Fruit market that comes to you.
Fishing village.
One of the big karsts.
View from half-way up Ti Top Island.
Inside Surprise cave.
View from the exit of Surprise cave.
Under one of the karsts.

  1. Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous. I wonder if the locals realize just how beautiful things are there, since they're always around it.

    1. Sometimes we get jaded by the everyday, but man, that place is stunning...
