Vietnam for Christmas! Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh City

Our second day in Saigon started off early with an amazing breakfast.

Mini pho for breakfast!
Then we made our way to the Opera house for our tour pick-up. We spent the day visiting the Mekong Delta. The Mekong River is the 12th longest in the world and is a major thoroughfare and resource for the countries it runs through.

Taking a sampan along a canal.
Since we got back mid-afternoon from the delta, we went on a "Saigon after dark" Vespa tour. The highlights were multiple food and drinks stops that were all you can consume at no additional charge.

Our guide explaining something to us. I think her name was Gwen. She was awesome.
We were somewhat shocked to find that our second stop was THE place highlighted on Anthony Bourdain's show! The "pancakes" really were very good. But complicated to eat. I'm glad we had experts with us.

I had concerns that we'd end up with a bunch of rowdy youths (apparently I'm old) but our group was a young couple from Chile on their honeymoon and their aunt that lives in Manila! We had a wonderful time with them!

Excited to be on a Vespa. Richard Hammond would be... disappointed. :P

  1. I love trying new food so I'm a bit jealous you got to consume all you wanted. haha
