November 1st is All Saints' Day and is a special holiday in the Philippines. Most people will have the day off work to remember their dead loved ones. Families will gather at grave sites for the whole day. Even staying over night.

Where there are people gathered, there are vendors! We even had some people from Greenwich come by and offer us "buy one, take one" pizza. As in, 'here in my bag are two pizzas for you'. We passed. You could even get cotton candy and fresh popped corn and ice cream.

Pretty little flowers. |

If your family is wealthy, you can have a 2-story air-conditioned mausoleum, complete with kitchen and washroom for when people come to visit! |

While other living people have these shacks. |

Balloon and light-up toy vendors... |

Dunkin' Donuts, street meat, flowers, candles, fruit, shorts... |

The Davao River runs along side the cemetery. |

I'm still not sure which mountain this is... |
It was quite an interesting experience. We are still learning the culture but sometimes it is hard not to make judgments based on our North American mindset. This is a beautiful place and the people are so wonderful. We love learning more about them!
