Eating Out: Sydney's At The Forks

My husband's office Christmas dinner was at Sydney's again this year. This was a lavish affair! We got a menu where we could pick from 3 or 4 options for each of a starter, appetizer, (sorbet palate cleanser) main and dessert. We were offered cocktails when we first ait down, then champagne once everyone had arrived, wine with the meal and then tea, coffee or port with dessert. This is the night my husband often discovers new Scotches that he likes.

I'll admit, I was very new to the whole blogging thing when we were out for this meal so I didn't take very many pictures. Sorry about that. What I did eat was:
  • Tomato & Chickpea Bisque with Dill Pesto & Crème Fraiche
  • Mushroom Profiterole with Pinot Gelée, Velouté & Chèvre
  • Salmon Filet with Grainy Mustard, Lemon Segments & Slaw
  • Chocolate Cinnamon Torte with Chocolate Chiffon & Vietnamese Cinnamon
I'd have to say, that Pinot Gelée was probably the most intriguing thing about the meal! Everything was very good. The bisque was divine, the salmon perfectly cooked... But those little bits of Gelée were something I'd never even heard of before! They were sweet and smooth, as is most pinot. I love that little grape.

I stuck with red wine, as I like it more than white. I'll do a separate post on that.

Over all this was a great experience! We were there last year for the company Christmas party and have been on our own for dinner as well. Always a treat!
